Decrease the cost of ill health in the workplace
A healthy workplace
In order to be an attractive employer, it is important to invest in the health of personnel. Creating and maintaining a good working environment is the employer's responsibility.
Providing the opportunity for movement activities during the work day benefits the entire company.
Ill health in the workplace is costly
The cost of ill health at work is substantial for both companies and the state.
The total cost of sickness absence for Swedish companies exceeds SEK 21 billion annually. Based on a monthly salary of SEK 25,000, the first 14 days of a sick leave costs approx. SEK 16,000. Joint and muscle disorders and complaints account for a large proportion of sickness absences which last two months or longer.
In addition to the cost of sickness absence, there are also hidden costs which are significantly more difficult to calculate.
Calculation example
In 2015, the average rate of absenteeism due to illness was 4.1%.
This perhaps doesn't seem high, but the number of lost working hours is higher than one might think. In 2015, the average time worked annually per employee was 2008 hours (not including annual leave and public holidays).
The lost working hours can be illustrated with two simple calculation examples:
Based on 50 employees
0
lost working hoursCompany 1 lost 4,116 working hours during 2015 based on the average sickness absence rate of 4.1%.
This is the equivalent to a loss of approx. 2 full-time positions in one year.
Based on 1000 employees
0
lost working hoursCompany 2 lost 82,328 working hours during 2015 based on the average sickness absence rate of 4.1%.
This is the equivalent to a loss of approx. 40 full-time positions in one year.
